George Michael arrested after car crashes into shop

Singer George Michael was nabbed, following the crashing of his car into a shop in north London.

Michael, 47, was banned for driving for two years in June 2007, was reported to have crashed into a branch of Snappy Snaps photo store near his home in Hampstead.

Michael was arrested by police on suspicion of being unfit to drive after the supposed incident in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to a police spokesperson, "Police were called at about 3.35am on Sunday 4th July to a report of a vehicle in collision with a building.

"Officers attended and a man aged in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive. He was taken to a north London police station and later bailed pending further inquiries to a date in mid August."

The Careless Whisper hitmaker's rep refused to comment.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Snappy Snaps confirmed damage to the shop but said they had not been informed who was arrested.

Michael was sentenced to 100 hours community service in June 2007.  He had confessed that he was driving while unfit, adding that he was guilty due to tiredness and taking prescription drugs.

The star was found flopped at the wheel of his stationary Mercedes car at a road junction in north London in the early hours of October 2006. Witnesses contacted the police about his erratic driving.
