It's rather obvious that Men dominated the box office this weekend.
Sylvester Stallone’s manly fueled Expendables against Julia Roberts’ Eat Pray Love, it was the Expendables that won the weekend easily.
Grossing $35 million, it was a crucial victory for Lionsgate. However, Eat Pray Love was not bad either, depite its limited appeal to men, it grossed an estimated $23.7 million, making it Roberts’ highest opening as a leading lady after 2001′s America’s SweethearT
Meanwhile, the new release, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, had a tougher time linking with audiences. The Michael Cera-starrer got only $10.5 million, far cry than the studio had expected. The film from British director Edgar Wright, had a budget of $60 million, was a asuccess at Comic-Con that did not materialized to the real world.
Summer is about to be over. Next weekend, let's see how Piranha 3-D fares against the return of Nanny McPhee.
